At SPARKS, professors are officially called “PROFs.” They are recognized for their work in practice, research, and teaching, and have undergone a state-supervised appointment process. And yet, at SPARKS, you’re welcome to address them informally from day one. This makes communication with one another faster and more personal.
Professionals from the fields of branding, media, and communication round out our curriculum. They share insights into the creative craft of communication. Our instructors aren’t just “assistant professors” - they’re successful and renowned professionals. That’s why at SPARKS, we call them “PROs.” And you can call them by their first names, too.
Brandner, Copy & Story

While studying business psychology, Anne also enrolled in the Texterschmiede. And she continued her career in copywriting - most recently as Creative Director at Jung von Matt in Hamburg and at TBWA in Singapore. Having won numerous awards, she now works as a freelancer on famous campaigns - and is on staff here at SPARKS.

As a professor, she has many years of experience in teaching and in managing the campus and academic programs, most recently as vice president. But Conny has also proven herself in the real world - at Klett and BURDA, and at her own company, which specializes in education.
Dr. Dr. Simmank, Cognitive Sciences

With two doctorates - one in human biology and one in economics - Fabian conducts research and teaches on topics related to cognition and communication. On top of that, he’s currently studying art in Vienna. He is therefore well-qualified to represent the field of research at SPARKS alongside his area of expertise.

As a designer and creative director at agencies such as Grabarz & Partner, SinnerSchrader, and Leagas Delaney, Jan has conceived and created a wealth of outstanding work. This has earned him just as many awards and, ultimately, membership in the ADC. It’s great for us that he’s also passionate about teaching.

She founded her own production company while still a student at the Munich Film Academy. She then went on to work for ARRI, Warner Bros., and Twentieth Century Fox. After earning her doctorate, Kiri focused primarily on innovation management, most recently at L'Oréal. And now she’s at SPARKS.

As a client consultant and Director of Creative Media, Max works for our partners Mediaplus and Hornbach. He also teaches at various universities. He represented Germany at the Cannes Young Lions and has received awards for his teaching.

After working at some of Hamburg’s top agencies, Richard joined the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences as a professor of communication design. As a member of the ADC board, he is committed to research and teaching. And at SPARKS, he is dedicated to creativity in concept, design, and execution.

In Forschung und Praxis beschäftigt sich Katja mit Datenanalysen und Prognosen. Bei Audi setzt sie dieses Wissen ein, um aus komplexen Daten fundierte Entscheidungsgrundlagen zu machen. Diese Verbindung von Wissenschaft und Anwendung bringt sie auch in die Lehre ein und zeigt Dir bei SPARKS, wie aus Zahlen Erkenntnisse werden.

After years as a copywriter, CMO of renowned brands, and owner of an international agency group, Kai earned his doctorate in communication sciences in New York and Munich. After setting up a neuro lab at LMU, he is now coordinating the founding of SPARKS.

Not only can Micha communicate in four languages, but she also understands the language of our students. In addition to her work as a language mediator, she has served as an instructor at an international university - as well as in the registrar’s office and in academic advising. These are precisely the areas she now focuses on at SPARKS.
SPARKS University of Applied Sciences is a newly founded university dedicated to the communications industry of the future. As part of the Serviceplan Group network, we combine academic education with real-world experience and direct access to companies, agencies, and industry leaders.
